Joseph Long was born in Pensacola, Florida in 1964. Because his father was a career Navy man, Joe spent his youth living in various cities and states all over the Eastern United States. Joe moved to Louisiana in 1976, where he graduated from John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana in 1982.

Joseph continued in his father’s military footsteps, earning his Associate of Arts at Marion Military Institute, where he was named Distinguished Military Student and was commissioned in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. Joe completed his undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1986. From there, he served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army until 1990, when he left the service and moved home to Louisiana.

Joseph ultimately earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the Paul Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1998 and immediately began to work for himself, becoming a Louisiana personal injury lawyer and excellent Louisiana criminal defense attorney.

He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and admitted to practice in all districts of Federal Court in Louisiana
